"Piranha Problem"

Films: Piranha (1978)

Alias: None

Type: Man-Made

Location: Lake

Height/Weight: That of average piranhas.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Many regard this as the most recognized "Jaws" rip-off. But in our eyes, there's enough difference in the plot to give it a pass. And besides, who would pass on an opportunity to film the Amazon's own donkey castrators (actual piranha nickname).

History: The old Operation: Razorteeth was a Vietnam war effort in which genetically modified piranha would adapt to colder bodies of water, and attack foes. It got canned after the war ended, and the creator of the projects still tends to them to nurse his ego. However, a couple of investigators accidentally released the fish, which headed for a new water resort. Can you guess what happens next?

Notable Kills: Launch into the air just to bite a guy to death.

Final Fate: The piranha almost get to the ocean to spread, but a man releases industrial waste unto them, killing them all. All that may have done, though, was just drastically lower their numbers.

Powers/Abilities: Can withstand cold temperatures, unlike their natural cousins.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Not the most convincing props, but it cannot be fun getting swarmed by these man-eaters. To paraphrase the trailer, sharks come alone, but piranha come in droves. It's not pleasant getting dragged to the bottom by at least ten of these fish.

Trivia: -Universal Studios was going to stop this film from existing due to its similarities to "Jaws", but words of praise from Spielberg prevented that.

-Actual piranha are much less aggressive then most think. They like meat, yes, but they mostly like to be scavengers, and will even eat plant matter occasionally. That said, they love the smell of blood, and can attack humans out of stress and/or starvation. They also are heavily attracted to splashing.

Why didn't this guy get his own standalone series of films?

The ocean shall become your grave today.

At least in the Jaws poster, she was blissfully unaware of being torn to bits.

It just takes one to kill you. How about 1000?

What is this? A 'Chosen Survivors' plan?
